Job Description Job Description Our client, a growing Long
Island–based company, is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented
Financial Reporting Accountant to join their Finance team. The
ideal candidate will come from a public accounting background and
bring a strong technical accounting foundation, excellent
analytical abilities, and the drive to support a fast-paced and
collaborative environment. Key Responsibilities: Support the
preparation and posting of journal entries as part of the monthly,
quarterly, and annual close processes. Reconcile loss-related
general ledger accounts and prepare detailed supporting schedules.
Assist with internal and external audit processes related to loss
accounting, including preparing backup documentation and
participating in walkthroughs. Contribute to the preparation of
financial reports in accordance with US GAAP; familiarity with
statutory accounting principles is a plus. Perform data analysis
and reconciliations to ensure the accuracy and integrity of
financial records. Collaborate cross-functionally with finance and
operations teams to ensure consistency and completeness of
accounting data. Identify and implement process improvements to
enhance efficiency and reporting accuracy. Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field required.
Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation or MBA preferred. 2–5
years of experience in public accounting or corporate accounting;
experience within the insurance industry is a plus. Strong
understanding of US GAAP; exposure to statutory accounting
principles preferred. Demonstrated experience with general ledger
accounting, journal entry preparation, and close processes. Proven
ability to work accurately with large data sets and perform
reconciliations with precision. Excellent oral and written
communication skills, with strong attention to detail and time
management. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and solid
working knowledge of other Microsoft Suite applications. Experience
with Sage Intacct or similar ERP systems is preferred. Personal
