Job Description:

Working with children, patience, and helpfulness are essential skills for this role. The Special Education Teacher will oversee the education and training of students with physical, emotional, mental, and learning disabilities. Responsibilities include:

Duties:

--- Differentiate curriculum to support students' learning styles and current achievement levels
--- Provide clear goals and objectives for each student
--- Teach content and skills to assigned students
--- Develop strategies for maintaining a classroom environment conducive to effective learning
--- Identify need for diagnostic testing and monitor student progress
--- Maintain accurate student records and complete record keeping/administrative responsibilities

Requirements:

--- Bachelor's degree in special education; Master's degree preferred
--- Valid Connecticut state endorsement 165-Special Education: Comprehensive, grades K-12
--- 2+ years' experience teaching special education student populations with language-based learning differences
--- Familiar with the IEP process and progress monitoring data collection
--- Commitment to helping children of all abilities reach their full potential
--- Excellent communication skills and a collaborative style
