A premier steel fabrication and erection company with over 40
years of experience serving the Tristate Area is seeking an
experienced Project Manager to join their dynamic team in Brooklyn,
NY. Renowned for its commitment to performance, integrity, and
customer satisfaction, the company specializes in structural steel
fabrication, steel erection, stud welding, custom stairs and
railings, and value engineering using advanced technologies like
CNC machinery, Tekla software, and Building Information Modeling
(BIM). With an annual fabrication capacity exceeding 1,000 tons,
the company delivers high-quality, precise, and efficient solutions
for complex construction projects, fostering strong partnerships
with clients, architects, and construction teams.This full-time
role is pivotal in overseeing turn-key steel construction projects
from inception to completion, ensuring alignment with client
expectations, project scope, and company standards. The Project
Manager will act as the primary point of contact for clients,
architects, and construction crews, driving project success through
meticulous planning, coordination, and execution. Candidates must
have a deep understanding of the steel industry and reside in the
NY Tri-State area, as no relocation or visa sponsorship is
provided.Responsibilities
- Client Collaboration: Engage with clients at the project's
outset to thoroughly understand the scope, vision, and objectives,
maintaining open communication throughout the project
lifecycle.
- Project Initiation: Oversee the initial phases of turn-key
projects, including permit submissions, design evaluations, and
coordination with relevant stakeholders to ensure compliance and
feasibility.
- Scheduling and Resource Allocation: Develop comprehensive
project schedules, assigning tasks and matching skilled personnel
to specific roles to optimize efficiency and meet deadlines.
- Change Order Management: Process and evaluate change orders,
ensuring all modifications align with project goals and are
communicated effectively to all parties.
- Stakeholder Coordination: Collaborate closely with architects,
construction crews, vendors, suppliers, and subcontractors to
ensure seamless integration of all project components.
- On-Site Leadership: Conduct regular on-site meetings with
architects, clients, and construction teams to monitor progress,
address challenges, and ensure adherence to plans and
specifications.
- Vendor and Subcontractor Negotiations: Negotiate contracts and
agreements with vendors, suppliers, and subcontractors to secure
cost-effective and high-quality materials and services.
- Budget and Estimating: Prepare and submit detailed project
estimates to clients, manage budgets for large-scale construction
projects, and implement cost-control measures to stay within
financial parameters.
- Risk Management: Apply advanced knowledge of risk management
policies to identify potential issues early and implement proactive
solutions to mitigate delays or cost overruns.
- Reporting and Documentation: Analyze maps, blueprints, and
charts to design project plans, write detailed reports, and
maintain accurate records of project progress and
expenditures.
- Team Oversight: Hire and supervise engineering staff and field
personnel, ensuring alignment with project goals and company
standards.Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years of project management experience
in the steel industry, with a proven track record of managing
large-scale construction projects.
- Technical Skills: Ability to read and interpret blueprints,
structural drawings, and plan sets with precision.
- Risk Management: Advanced understanding of risk management
policies and procedures to anticipate and address project
challenges.
- Budget Management: Extensive experience managing budgets for
complex construction projects, with a focus on cost efficiency and
financial oversight.
- Industry Knowledge: Strong knowledge of construction materials,
processes, equipment, and steel fabrication/erection
techniques.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in construction management, civil
engineering, or a related field (preferred).
- Location: Must currently reside in the NY Tri-State area;
position is based in Brooklyn, NY, with no relocation or visa
sponsorship provided.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication
skills to liaise with clients, architects, and construction teams
effectively.
- Leadership: Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional
teams, manage multiple stakeholders, and drive project success
under tight deadlines.Compensation and Benefits
- Salary: $90,000 - $120,000 per year, commensurate with
experience and qualifications.
- Compensation Package: Includes bonus opportunities based on
project performance and company profitability.
- Benefits: Paid time off to support work-life balance.
- Schedule: Full-time position with a standard Monday to Friday
schedule, including 8- or 10-hour shifts. Overtime may be required
based on project demands.
